Cloud Computing refers to virtualized resources - applications, servers, network devices & storage that are typically owned and operated by third-party providers on a consolidated basis in a data center. These virtualized resources move freely about the infrastructure, delivering services when they are required. They feature on-demand provisioning and pay-as-you go resource billing, with minimal up-front investment. It is aimed at delivering cost-effective computing power over the Internet, including virtual private networks (VPN). Cloud services minimize capital expense of computing, tie operating expense to actual use, and reduce overall staffing costs.
